If you have never travelled with a group — or never with a ministry tour — the unknowns can feel bigger than the airfare. Here is exactly what a Roam Shalom journey looks like from the inside.
The short version: you are guided, fed, housed, taught and prayed for. Your only jobs are to show up, stay curious and drink enough water.
Each journey is intentionally paced to allow Scripture reading and reflection, teaching and discussion, worship, prayer and quiet contemplation.
One more reassurance for planners-by-nature: you will receive a detailed day-by-day itinerary, hotel names, and a packing list well before departure, plus a live WhatsApp channel during the tour. Surprises on our journeys are limited to sunsets and upgrade announcements.
Breakfast at the hotel or on board. Morning at a biblical site with guided teaching and a devotional. A relaxed lunch — often free time to explore. An afternoon site or travel leg, then dinner together and an unhurried evening.
There is always a seat on the coach, always time for the bathroom stop, always someone counting heads. Relax; you are shepherded.
The word ‘companion’ literally means ‘one you share bread with’ — com panis — and that is the truest description of what happens on tour. Within two days, strangers who met at an airport are saving seats for each other and swapping family photos over baklava.

Tours are priced per person sharing (the Greece journey starts at $2,599) with a simple deposit schedule: a small deposit to reserve your seat, a second a month later, and the balance 90 days before departure.
Worried about being herded? Our groups are deliberately sized for fellowship, and the itinerary builds in genuine freedom — free days, long lunches, optional excursions. You will never stand in a car park while someone counts to fifty.
Air tickets to the start city, meals and drinks not specified, optional excursions, and visas where required. We spell out every inclusion in writing before you commit — no surprises.
And if something goes wrong — a lost bag, a turned ankle, a homesick heart — you are surrounded by people whose actual job, and actual joy, is to care for you. That is the quiet luxury no five-star hotel can sell.
A word about pace, because it is the question behind most questions: we plan one anchor activity per half-day, never three. Mornings start civilised, lunches are real, and the coach is a rolling lounge with commentary rather than a cattle run. Tired travellers stop absorbing — so we simply refuse to exhaust you.
What if I don’t know anyone else on the tour?
You will by dinner on day one — we build the first evening around unhurried introductions, and the shared table does the rest. Most of our travellers arrive as strangers; the WhatsApp groups they form are still active years later.
How much free time is there really?
Every day has breathing room, and most itineraries include one fully free day. Anchor activities fill half-days, not whole ones; lunches are long; evenings after dinner are yours. You will be led, never herded.
What should you bring to contribute? Whatever you have. Some travellers lead singing, some ask the questions everyone was thinking, some quietly watch for whoever needs a coffee or a listening ear. Groups knit themselves from exactly these threads, and every thread counts.
